Tabaka is Global Health Connections 3rd and one of our smallest villages to date. Only 1500 villagers live in Tabaka and of those 1500, 62 graduated from the health program in early October and over 670 directly benefited. 70% of participants in the club are women.
UPDATE May 2024:
Our small but mighty Tabaka CHEC has achieved remarkable success by becoming sustainably self-governing. The dedicated members now independently manage their operations and make decisions autonomously. A standout accomplishment is their ability to run a 10-hive apiary on their own, generating income and promoting environmental sustainability. This achievement not only supports the club's health and empowerment initiatives but also strengthens the community's economic resilience. The success of the apiary project highlights the club's determination and capability in fostering self-reliance and growth. Their compact apiary has been so successful that we frequently bring hives from other apiaries there for colonization, and conduct manager training there.
Inside the apiary
Mixing up disinfectant for cleaning products
A proper latrine built after GHC health training
The apiary is tucked away in a secluded area of Tabaka, surrounded by trees and flowers bees love.
