Evelyn raised four kids on her own after her husband died — farming maize, selling fruit at the market, making it work. Today she's the Chairlady of the Nyamecheo CHEC, leading a beekeeping project she once would have run from, and known by name far beyond her village.
Mary had a kitchen garden before GHC arrived. What she didn't have: knowledge about safe water, a path to steady income, or enough to cover her kids' school fees. Now she's the CHEC's Vice Secretary, selling vegetables and second-hand clothes every Monday, and her children's fees are paid.
From the shores of Lake Victoria to the plains of Kajiado, CHECs are changing how villages work — in health, income, and leadership. Today, 10 villages in Kisii, Homa Bay, and Kajiado Counties are actively running CHECs, with 9 more running on their own after graduating from our program.
