Biombe, a village comprised of 6000 inhabitants, is Global Health Connections 2nd village. We began this second CH&EC in April 2020 with 300 initial participants; 250 graduated from the program in early October and there were over 1700 direct beneficiaries throughout the village. 80% of the participants in the health club are women. The Economic Curriculum started in November in Biombe and the 250 members were able to choose from Beekeeping, Vegetable Farming, Brick Making and Mushroom Farming.
We recently decided to make Biombe Village our model Beekeeping community. We installed 50 beehives in an Apiary and have started collecting honey and wax for processing. Our goal is to add 50 more hives in this village and to build a central processing plant to process honey and other bee by-products from all our villages.
