Biombe, a village comprised of 6,000 inhabitants, is Global Health Connections 2nd village. We began this second CHEC in April 2021 with 300 initial participants; 250 graduated from the program in early October and there were over 1700 direct beneficiaries throughout the village.  80% of the participants in the health club are women.  The Economic Curriculum started in November in Biombe and the 250 members were able to choose from Beekeeping, Vegetable Farming, Brick Making and Mushroom Farming. The majority chose beekeeping. 

We recently decided to make Biombe Village our model Beekeeping community.  We installed 50 beehives in an Apiary and have started collecting honey and wax for processing. Our goal is to add 50 more hives in this village and to build a central processing plant to process honey and other bee by-products from all our villages.

The Biombe CHEC has achieved a significant milestone by becoming fully sustainable and self-governing. Members now manage their operations independently, make informed decisions, and lead their initiatives. A notable accomplishment is their successful operation of a 50-hive apiary, which generates income while promoting environmental sustainability. This achievement not only bolsters the club's health and empowerment efforts but also strengthens economic growth and resilience in the community. The success of the apiary project highlights the club’s commitment to self-reliance and long-term sustainability.
